We are currently looking for dedicated workers seeking challenging work at an experienced leader in utility repairs and installations for the positions below.
- Assist pipelayer and crew leader in day to day operations.
- Be aware of and responsive to safety issues related to excavation and trenching.
- Must be physically fit to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (in excess of 50 lbs.);
- Includes but limited to, unpacking truck, undoing transport chains for excavator, being the man on top of the hole ready to assist in grabbing any hand tools, shovels, power tools or fitting
- Ability to dig with shovel when required.
- Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction
- Make runs to supply store for any additional materials needed to job.
- Good housekeeping skills.
- The ability to comprehend and follow specific instructions.
- Drive and Operate a Dump truck (F-750 or F-650)
- Ability to perform intense manual labor
- Ability to patch concrete sidewalk or patch interior demos that may have occurred due to our work.
- Other labor duties as assigned
Requires minimum of 1 year experience working with pipelaying.
In additional to all requirement of pipe later apprentice, Pipelayer I must possess the following:
- Dig with shovels and hand tools to correct depths
- Knowledge of pipelaying practices and commitment to safety
- Must be physically fit to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (in excess of 50 lbs.);
- Knowledge of proper rigging and lifting techniques
- Locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement, using magnetic or radio indicators.
- Knowledge to work around utilities
- Knowledge of all fitting and their appropriate usage
- Cut pipes to required lengths
- Use proper technique to lay and install pipe on proper grade.
- Knowledge of all exterior plumbing requirement per job per county.
- Ability to fuse sections of pipe together.
- Prepare trench on grade for pipe installation.
- Seal joints
- Cover pipes with dirt or other material.
- Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned
- Other labor duties as assigned
Requires minimum of 2 years experience working with pipelaying.
In addition to all Pipelayer I skills, Pipelayer II must possess the following:
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent knowledge of exterior and interior plumbing that pertains to A&A work.
- Ability to think logically about work at hand and compare site conditions with project designs.
- Must be physically fit to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (in excess of 50 lbs.);
- This can include rerouting internal pipes for sewer, and installing backflow preventors, PRV valves and Expansion tanks for water jobs. Joining the internal pipes together is a must know.
- Must be able to follow building plans or blueprints and instructions from supervisors, lay out the job, and work efficiently with the materials and tools of their trade.
- Uses instruments including lasers, grade rods and transit levels
- Ability to shoot grades.
- For new construction. Setting manholes and other various underground structures that require a precise depth. Ability to set pipes on a certain specified grade as noted by plans.
- Ability to read and recognize existing utilities and how to work around them.
- For residential sewer, make sure there is enough fall between the residence sewer output and the city/county main. Determine the percentage of fall required to make the pipe install properly.
- Installation of fittings, valves, tee’s, bends and hydrants. The successful candidate should have the ability to monitor and ensure accurate backfill of pipe and knowledge of exposing existing utilities.
- Drill holes into pipes for auxiliary lines. (Wet Taps, Core Drill, ect)
- Train other in pipelaying
- Other labor duties as assigned
